The ongoing dispute between WSOP champion Jamie Gold and television producer Crispin Leyser has taken a new turn this week. A US judge has ruled to uphold the current freeze on half of Jamie Gold's US 12 million dollar 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event winnings. The lawsuit was filed by Leyser after Gold, an online casino sponsored poker pro, allegedly backed out a business deal to share his WSOP winnings between the pair. According to Leyser, Gold needed to find celebrities to compete in the tournament wearing the online casino sponsored logo in order to get sponsorship from the poker room. But after winning the Main Event, Gold said the agreement with Leyser was a goodwill gesture and not a binding business deal and is now fighting to keep the full US 12 million dollars.

Since winning the online casino sponsored Main Event in August, the money has been on hold at the Rio Hotel and Casino. According to the District Court Judge, Roger Hunt, Leyser is likely to get his share of the money. The court agreed to a request from attorneys for both parties for the cash to be moved from Harrah's custody, where it has lain since the dispute surfaced. The attorneys asked for it to be moved to an interest bearing account pending final resolution. The judge also rejected a motion by Gold's attorney to remove an order preventing the online casino sponsored WSOP champ from accessing the cash.
